A Glimpse of the Living Forest
Photographic exhibition
This photographic exhibition, curated by Michel Fautsch, photographer of the Living World and bio-engineer is on view in the lobby of Dolce La Hulpe Brussels from 13/06 to 4/07.
A ‘chronoxyle’ is a very old, large tree, maintained in the landscape for the benefit of decomposing organisms. Whether dead or dying, its slow decomposition returns carbon and nutrients to the soil, contributing to the forest's natural cycle. This process, which sometimes lasts several decades, involves a variety of living organisms: bacteria, fungi, lichens, mosses, higher plants, amphibians, mammals, birds, reptiles, etc.
